Volunteering

Volunteers play an important role within our Trust, providing support to those people who use our services. We welcome people from all groups and communities who would like to share their skills and experience or gain and develop new skills and experience. We offer a range of support to volunteers throughout their experience. If you have any questions about what it’s like to volunteer with us, please get in touch.

Volunteering opportunities are available across the Bradford, Airedale and Craven District. We have a wide range of services, many of which have volunteers.

To find out further information about the Trust, and the services we offer, please see our services.

Age and commitment

You need to be 18 or over for the majority of our volunteer roles, although we do have some opportunities available if you are 16 or over.

Due to the time and effort that the recruitment process takes, we ask that you consider the commitment you can make. We rarely support short term, intensive volunteering opportunities.

Please consider whether this is a realistic commitment before applying.

We open our recruitment on first of every month. We manage a diverse range of roles across our clinical and non-clinical services and will have a selection of roles available. If one month you don’t see a role that you’d really like to do, please do check the next month.

Unfortunately, we are unable to deal with any work experience requests. If you are interested in work experience then please contact workexperience@bdct.nhs.uk.

Our volunteer recruitment journey

To become a volunteer for BDCFT, you will need to apply for one of our available roles. You can find our active opportunities here. Once your application has been received you will be contacted by one of our team who will then invite you to attend an informal selection meeting. If your application has been successful, you will be required to complete the following steps:

  • Recruitment checks – Occupational Health, References, ID check, DBS check (if a requirement of the role).
  • Volunteer induction training.
  • Role specific training.
  • Local induction.

The recruitment checks, training and induction must be completed in full before any volunteering can begin.
