Care Trust goes above and beyond in patient assessments

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust has once again exceeded the national average across all areas in the 2025 Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) results.
The PLACE assessments review a range of environmental and patient experience factors and are carried out by teams including service users, relatives, carers and patient advocates.
The annual assessments score NHS organisations on key areas including cleanliness, condition, appearance and maintenance, food and hydration, and how well services meet the needs of people with dementia or a disability, as well as privacy, dignity and wellbeing.
In 2025, the Trust outperformed the national average in every category assessed. Overall, the Trust achieved 99.29 per cent for cleanliness, 99.23 per cent for condition, appearance and maintenance, and 99.28 per cent for privacy, dignity and wellbeing, all above the national averages.
Both inpatient sites performed exceptionally well. The Airedale Centre for Mental Health achieved 100 per cent for condition, appearance and maintenance and 99.79 per cent for cleanliness, while Lynfield Mount Hospital scored 99.51 per cent for privacy, dignity and wellbeing and 97.88 per cent for food and hydration.
Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Head of Estates and Facilities, Paula Ottley, said: “We are delighted with this year’s results, which show that we are performing above the national average in every area assessed. These scores reflect the continued hard work and commitment of our staff to provide safe, clean and supportive environments for the people who use our services.
“We know that factors such as privacy, dignity, cleanliness and good quality facilities make a real difference to a person’s wellbeing and recovery. While we are proud of these results, we remain committed to continuous improvement to ensure our environments reflect best practice and support therapeutic care.”
