Our youth offending health team (YOT) looks after and promotes the health needs of children and young people who become involved in the criminal justice system. Our team of nurses will: Offer holistic health assessments to all YOT young people to fully assess their health needs. Design an individualised health care plan for each young person after each health assessment, to be shared with appropriate professionals, subject to their consent. Give young people and their parents/carers health advice and a named YOT Nurse to talk about any health issues that are worrying them at any time. Provide direct fast access to the Young people’s drug and alcohol team and child and adolescent mental health service as required. We provide specialists packages of care for young people with specific needs i.e. sexually harmful behaviour, domestic violence, sexual exploitation. Refer children and young people to specialist health care services, mental health and advocacy services as required. Who is this service for? Our service is for all young people aged from 10-18 years (or older if their YOT involvement continues beyond their 18th birthday) involved in the criminal justice system across the Bradford District. How can you access this service? Once you become involved with the youth offending team, either voluntarily or through a statutory order, the YOT team will refer you to our nursing team.
