In the light of the recent Government announcements, visits will be considered on a case-by-case basis across all our wards at the Airedale Centre for Mental Health with immediate effect.
This is to help us to continue to protect our service users, our staff and our wider communities and to limit the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus.
The exception to this is if a service user is receiving end-of-life care. We understand that this will be upsetting for service users and their families but we are looking at alternative arrangements such as telephone calls for you to keep in touch with your loved ones during this time.

Airedale Centre for Mental Health is located on the Airedale General Hospital site. It provides 24-hour inpatient care by skilled, qualified and experienced nursing staff, doctors and other professionals who continually assess patients with mental health problems. The unit is an ‘all age’ service – this means that anyone over 18 with a functional mental health problem will be cared for here. The Centre caters for a diverse mix of patients with a wide range of needs and problems. It offers the latest in healthcare building design, for example every patient has their own bedroom with ensuite facilities.
Airedale Centre for Mental Health is made up of three wards;
- Bracken Ward – on Bracken Ward we care for anyone over the age of 65 who is experiencing acute mental health issues.
- Heather Ward – on Heather Ward we care for females aged 18 – 65 experiencing acute mental health difficulties.
- Fern Ward – on Fern Ward we care for males aged 18 – 65 experiencing acute mental health difficulties.
