School Immunisation team
About the service
The School Immunisation team promotes and delivers immunisations in 43 secondary schools and 173 primary schools and to children and young people that are home tutored or in alternative provisions across Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.
We aim to increase how many children are vaccinated against a range of illnesses through health-promotion activities as well as planned sessions in schools and community-based clinics. Vaccinations include:
- Human-Papillomavirus (HPV)
- Bacille Calmette Guerin (School-age BCG)
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
- School leaver boosters (Meningitis and the three-in-one booster)
- Flu vaccinations
We closely with the School Nursing Special Needs team (SNSN) to offer vaccinations to children who may have vaccine anxiety and phobias. These children are identified through school sessions, so staff can help prepare them for their vaccinations and offer additional support.
Full details of our service and the vaccinations offered, including consent forms and contact details, are on the dedicated School Immunisations page of our Family Health services website.
How to access
Parental or carer consent is required for your child to receive immunisations – the consent form is available on the School Immunisation team page.
How to find us
We offer on-site vaccinations at primary and secondary schools, community clinics, alternative educational provisions (such as pupil referral units), and alternative places of study. Home visits are also carried out for children who may have additional needs or requirements, and who may be very anxious and need to be in more familiar surroundings.
