Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is gearing up to celebrate the innovative, compassionate and award-winning care that the Trust’s nurses provide for local people across the district at a celebration event on 10 May at the Mercure Bradford Bankfield Hotel.

The event is now in its seventh year and is organised by the Nursing Development team. Debbie Cromack, Quality, Health and Innovation Lead at the Trust, and part of the team said: “The nursing celebration event is a great opportunity for different services within nursing to get together, celebrate and share their achievements from the past year.

We’ve got a number of staff speakers on the day representing a cross section of our nursing services, including learning disability nursing talking about their joint working with our district nursing teams to best support our communities, as well as innovative projects such as ‘Gilberts Digits’ which looks to help patients with diabetes.”

Awards revealed on the day include the Kate Granger Compassion in Practice Award. In memory of Kate Granger who was sadly diagnosed with terminal cancer, which led her to start the “Hello My Name Is…..” campaign, which encourages all staff across care settings to introduce themselves and recognises that the smallest things can really make the biggest difference.

Two awards will also be presented for the Trust’s ‘Mentor of the Year’ and ‘Student of the Year’ which will be given to individuals who have shown excellence in student support and learners who have excelled in their practice placements.
