Newly appointed Board member Professor Gerry Armitage takes up his non-executive director (NED) role at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (1 October), joining as one of five NEDs on the Trust’s Board.
Alongside his Board role, Professor Armitage’s responsibilities will include vice chair of the Trust’s Mental Health Legislation Committee (MHLC) that oversees the organisations compliance with key legislative requirements across its two hospitals, Lynfield Mount and Airedale Centre for Mental Health, and its community mental health services.
On the MHLC, Professor Armitage will work alongside NED Dr Zulfi Hussain, MBE, who joined the Trust’s Board in February 2016 and will chair the MHLC from 1 October.
In his new role, Professor Armitage brings extensive senior-level experience from both the university sector and the National Health Service, primarily in health professional education and health services research. His career started in the NHS, working as a nurse in some of the North’s biggest teaching hospitals including Bradford Teaching Hospitals.
Also from 1 October, the Trust’s NED, David Banks, who is currently Chair of the Finance, Business and Investment Committee, will now chair the Charitable Funds Committee that oversees all the Trust’s charitable activity. He will continue as Chair of the Audit Committee.
Both committees report to the Trust Board.
