Nominations open in Care Trust governor elections
Posted: Thursday, 10 January 2019
Nominations for Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust’s governor elections open on Wednesday 16 January. The nominations are an opportunity for members of the public who are also Trust members to put themselves forward for a seat on the Trust’s council of governors.
The Trust is seeking nominations to fill six seats on the council of governors from constituencies across the district: two in Bradford South, one each in Keighley, Craven and Shipley, and one seat representing the Rest of England.
Governors play a key role within the Trust as the voices of their communities. The council of governors represents the views of local people to the Trust Board, ensuring that these are taken into account when the Board is making decisions.
There will be three public events in the coming weeks for people from local communities to learn more about the Care Trust’s work and how governors can contribute. These will take place on Thursday 17 January, 5:30pm – 7:00pm at Central Hall, Alice Street, Keighley BD21 3JD; Thursday 24 January, 5:30pm – 7:00pm at Dyneley Barn, Newmarket Street, Skipton BD23 2HZ; and Friday 1 February, 10:00am – 11:30am at New Mill, Victoria Road, Saltaire BD18 3LD.
To apply for the role of governor, members of the public must be members of the Trust. Membership is free and people can complete a membership form online. All members will receive invitations to healthcare talks and events and are eligible to vote in the Trust’s governor elections.
The Trust’s Lead Governor, Colin Perry, said: “The best and most rewarding aspect of being a governor is that it’s an important and valuable role and governors can have a real influence on the work of the Trust. It’s crucial that we act as the voice of the public in the meetings we attend, to ensure that their voice is heard.”
Members of the Trust who are interested in becoming a governor will be able to complete and submit a nomination form between Wednesday 16 January and Wednesday 13 February via the Trust’s website: www.bdct.nhs.uk/about-us/our-council-of-governors/become-a-governor/.
