Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust has announced the appointment of Nicola Lees as its new Chief Executive that will take immediate effect.
Currently Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Operations, Nicola has been interim Chief Executive since Simon Large retired in August 2016.
Nicola Lees brings a wealth of experience to the role, including over 35 years working in mental health. Since joining the Trust in 2009, Nicola has led significant service transformation including working with partners to radically re-design the Trust’s mental health crisis care service and develop First Response; setting up a new unit to focus on children’s services and re-modelling its complex care services, working with Airedale Foundation Trust and YorDales Health GP Federation, to support more people at home.
Nicola has also provided Board level leadership for its patient and public involvement work, to ensure that people who use the Trust’s services and its local communities, are actively involved in shaping the Trust’s work.
Nicola is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with senior level experience across low, medium and high secure mental health services. Prior to joining the Trust, she was Network Director for specialist mental health services for Greater Manchester West Mental Health Foundation Trust.
As the Trust’s Chief Executive, Nicola will continue to lead the mental health work of the West Yorkshire Urgent and Emergency Care Vanguard, in partnership with other Trusts across the region, to improve 24/7 urgent mental health care across West Yorkshire.
Mike Smith, Trust Chair, said: “Nicola’s appointment comes at a crucial time for the Trust, as we strive to deliver better health outcomes and care for local people, whilst delivering significant efficiencies. The organisation has a strong reputation for innovation and best practice, and Nicola has been central to this. Through her leadership, Nicola will continue to build on this success and ensure that our excellent Trust team, from frontline to Board, remains focused on delivering high quality services for our local communities.”
Nicola Lees said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be appointed Chief Executive at the Care Trust. I’m passionate about delivering the best services possible for local people, whilst working with our partners to transform and improve services, so they are sustainable in the longer term. I’ll be continuing to work with staff across our mental health and community teams, the people who use our services and their families, to ensure that we continue to deliver outstanding services that are really responsive to local needs.”
