For the first time, Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust will be competing in the annual Bradford Dragon Boat Festival.

The free 3-day festival promising to be a fun day out for all the family, returns to Robert’s Park, Saltaire Friday 21 June – Sunday 23 June 2019. This year on the Sunday, the Trust staff team, ‘The Saltaire Swans’, will be competing against 45 other teams in the Multi Charity Championship. The event is different to the previous days’ as it is a chance for teams to nominate and fundraise for their own charity.

The Trust will be raising money for its own charity Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund, which uses donations to support a wide variety of additional activities to support patients and carers. In the past this has included an arts and film project with young people, focusing on mental health and wellness, developing a garden area for patients with special needs and learning disabilities at Waddiloves Health Centre, and supporting LYNFEST music and arts festival, hosted by Lynfield Mount Hospital. LYNFEST aims to celebrate the positive effects music and arts can have on mental well-being for all, involving performances from both Trust staff and patients and is a much-valued annual celebration.

Paul Hogg, Director of Corporate Affairs, said: “We’re delighted to be involved in this year’s Dragon Boat Festival, which occurs right on the doorstep of our Trust headquarters at New Mill. The festival is a great opportunity to bring together local organisations, celebrate what’s good about Bradford and have some fun through physical activity. Our staff have created a real buzz about their preparations; events like this can bring out the best in people, foster teambuilding and enhance wellbeing. I know plenty of staff that will be attending the festival to cheer them on.”
