Description

The Queen’s official guide to the sands will lead a walk across the biggest expanse of tidal mudflats and sand in the UK. It is only possible at certain times of the year and under expert guidance.

Gather at the seaside village of Arnside and come prepared to walk the sands and paddle the waters as you cross the bay. The route is constantly changing due to the tide and movement of sand. It is approximately 6 – 9 miles crossing from Arnside to Grange, taking three to four hours to complete. There will be water – at least knee deep – to walk or wade through and uneven ground at the end of the walk as we reach the end.

We have secured 15 places for this event. It is £15 to register and a suggested minimum sponsorship per person of £75. To register, please e-mail: betterlivescharity@bdct.nhs.uk

Please note this is a linear walk (one way) – it is your responsibility to get to the start at Arnside Promenade and it finishes at Grange Promenade near Grange-over-Sands, a popular way to return to Arnside is to catch the two-carriage train back. (N.B Arnside is approx. 72 miles from Bradford, approx. a 2-hour journey by car)

The Cross Bay Walk 2022 will start at 9.10am from the Promenade in Arnside and is led by the Brathay Trust.
