Carla Smith who has been nursing with the Trust for 12 years was awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) last year by community nursing charity, The Queens Nursing Institute (QNI).

Carla is currently the Trust’s clinical lead for district nursing and has been involved in delivering a number of programmes within the organisation, including the senior staff nurse programme, the district nurse leadership programme and supporting the SystmOne optimisation project . Carla is also a practice teacher working with Leeds Beckett University in supporting specialist community practitioner students in practice areas throughout Bradford and Airedale.

On receiving her award Carla said: “It was really exciting and a great honour to receive the Queens Nurse title.

Since receiving the award I have used the benefits it brings to shape practice and support the outstanding work that we deliver in Bradford and Airedale”

The title of Queen’s Nurse is awarded for a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership. Nurses who hold the title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities and a shared professional identity.
