Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is inviting members of the public to attend its monthly Board meeting, which will take place on Thursday 26 July at its Trust headquarters in Saltaire.

At the meeting, the Trust’s Board will take the opportunity to share the initial plans for its upcoming Annual Members Meeting, which takes place on Tuesday 18 September at Bradford City Football Club.

The meeting will be open to Trust members and members of the public, and will include stalls showcasing a range of Trust services and the opportunity to talk to Trust staff about their work. It will also give members of the public a chance to meet their local Trust governors, put their questions to the Trust Board and hear about the Trust’s achievements over the past 12 months, and its future plans.

Attendees at the Board meeting will also be able to hear from the Trust’s falls prevention team who work in partnership with several local organisations including the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to reduce the risk of falls in older people. This scheme, which is the first of its kind in the country, identifies older people who may be at risk of falls through the Fire Service’s ‘Safe and Well’ checks.

Fire Service staff are trained to identify potential risks in the home and to refer vulnerable people to the Trust’s falls prevention team. The team offers practical advice on falls prevention, and runs a strength and balance home exercise scheme and group classes. This helps to reduce the number of hospital admissions for older people who sustain injuries through falls.

The Trust’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Paul Hogg, said: “We are looking forward to this month’s Board meeting as we are keen to share our plans for the Annual Members Meeting with the public. The Annual Members Meeting will be a valuable opportunity not only for our communities to see the great work that we do, but for people to ask us questions and share their thoughts on Trust services.”

The Trust Board meeting will take place on Thursday 26 July, 1:30pm until 4:00pm at New Mill, Victoria Road, Saltaire BD18 3LD.
