Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust has relaunched its charity, Better Lives, with the aim to support patients and staff across Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale, Craven and Wakefield.
The charity, formally known as Bradford District Care NHS Trust Charitable Fund, has been renamed ‘Better Lives’, to reflect the charity’s vision to create better lives by improving the physical and mental wellbeing of patients, service users and families across the communities through charitable activity.
Better Lives, is vital now more than ever, to enhance the care provided by the Trust to patients who will directly benefit from it.
To achieve this, the charity aims to use its resources to help improve patient experience and outcomes; further enhance its care (or caring) environments; and support the wellbeing of its staff, during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, and into the future.
The Trust’s values remain importantly at the core of the charity: We Care – we act with respect and empathy, and always value difference; We Listen – we understand people’s views and respond to their individual needs; and We Deliver – we use donations wisely to make a positive difference.
The Trust has recently experienced some moving examples of generosity from local and national businesses, as well as donations from individuals who have put the charity’s aims at the heart of their activity. Dr Zulfi Hussain, Non-Executive Director on the Trust Board and Chair of Better Lives said, “We are so grateful for the donations we have received over the last few weeks as mental health and community services can sometimes get overlooked. We are keen to work with our local communities to identify opportunities for individuals and businesses to get involved in our fundraising activities. I would encourage people to think about supporting Better Lives, as the smallest things really can make a big difference.”
The Trust itself operates as a Corporate Trustee for the Charity and the responsibility for the management and use of the funds held lies with the Board of the Trust.
If members of the public would like to get involved in helping to support the charity, donations can be made via the new Better Lives JustGiving page. To fundraise, or if a business or organisation would like to support the charity, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
