Healthcare heroes from Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust were thanked by their health bosses in December.
Almost 50 members of nursing and corporate staff who had all won local, regional, national or international awards in 2015 were invited to join members of the Trust Board prior to their December meeting at Trust HQ.
Michael Smith, Chair said: “The awards reflect the commitment and passion of our staff, who provide the best possible care to people living in Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven. The Board is proud that so many of our staff have been recognised in 2015 for their dedication, creativity and innovation – something which we see daily at the Trust.”
Amongst the Board’s special guests were Emma Kergon, a Clinical Lead from Ilkley who won the Queen’s Nursing Institute Award for her commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership and Dawn Langwade, Specialist Clinic Nurse, who was crowned ‘Learning Disability Nurse of the Year’ at the National Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards. As a Care Co-Ordinator Dawn makes sure the health care needs of people with a learning disability are managed sensitively and in the most appropriate way possible.
Earlier this year the Palliative Care Team was announced by the British Medical Journal as the winners of the Palliative Care of the Year Award. Belinda Marks, Clinical Lead said: “We feel honoured to have represented the Trust this year. It was fantastic to meet all the other award winners, and talk about our achievements with members of the Board.”
The guests were not the only award winners in 2015; the Trust’s Board of Directors also scooped the coveted title of ‘Board/Governing Body of the Year’ at the annual Yorkshire & the Humber Regional Leadership Recognition Awards. Tracey Corner was announced as the ‘Patient Champion of the Year’ at the same awards ceremony and Lisa Wright won the title of Leader of Inclusivity of the Year.
Winning an internationally recognised accolade, the Payroll Team scooped the Payroll Team Award for the public sector at the Payroll World Awards and Karen Byard won a Research and Education Award at the National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers Awards.
