Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust will be holding its Board meeting, which occur every other month, at Sharing Voices, 10 Mornington Villas, Bradford, BD8 7HB on Thursday 25 July.
The ‘Board on the Road’ meeting is part of the Trust’s plans to ensure that members of the community across Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale, Craven and Wakefield who use its services, have an opportunity to see the Board in action and find out more about the organisation’s work. The Trust has worked very closely with Sharing Voices, who are a partner organisation and an appointed Trust governor, currently represented by Ishtiaq Ahmed, for over ten years, and together have hosted a number of local events for members of the public.
A recent event building on their strong relationship in supporting the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community was held on Monday 15 July. BAME attendees were able to learn more about different mental health difficulties and the mental health services and support available to them.
At July’s Board meeting, there will be an opportunity to hear more about mental health services in the community through a presentation by the Trust’s new Mental Health Care Group. Clinicians will be presenting an update to the Board every six months from each Care Group, about what is going on in their services, the challenges faced, and achievements celebrated.
A particularly prominent service in the local community for mental health is MyWellbeing College, a free NHS service to help people manage everyday problems such as feeling low, difficulties sleeping, feeling anxious or experiencing stress. The service has a wide range of learning opportunities to help people through ‘life’s ups and downs’, ranging from online courses in the comfort of their own home, to getting out and meeting new people in group courses.
Patrick Scott, Chief Operating Officer, said: “I’m delighted that the Board meeting will be held at the offices of Sharing Voices and that we will hear about progress across mental health services. Our Trust is keen to make new connections with local communities and our ‘Board on the Road’ programme is an excellent way to do this.”
The Trust Board meeting will take place on Thursday 25 July, 1.30pm until 4.00pm at Sharing Voices, 10 Mornington Villas, Bradford, BD8 7HB.
