Fire safety for contractors
Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust takes fire safety very seriously and has developed two technical specifications for passive fire protection and fire doors. These detail the products that must be used when carrying out any work in our buildings:
BDCFT fire door tech spec
The correct specification, installation and maintenance of fire doors is vitally important in ensuring that people are protected.
As a Trust we must ensure that a fire door will function correctly in the event of a fire. To achieve this, the Trust has developed a technical specification which must be used when carrying out any fire door related work. This specification is applicable to architects, contractors and all staff employed by the Trust.
For a fire door to work correctly it relies on the correct operation of other components including the frame, hinges, closers, seals and glazing systems which must be compatible with the test evidence for the fire door.
Fire technical passive fire protection
Most projects, maintenance and construction works are likely to require fire stopping or passive fire protection measures. These are vital to the stability and integrity of the building and structure, the protection of the means of escape and to limit fire spread in case of fire.
As a Trust we specify third party accredited installers for all schemes. The products that must be used are detailed in the technical specification.
The Trust expects that suitable passive fire protection measures are to be provided for all works. To achieve this, the Trust has developed a technical specification which must be used when carrying out any work which penetrates a wall, ceiling or compartment. This specification is applicable to architects, contractors and all staff employed by the Trust.
