Silver ERS Award from Ministry of Defence

The Trust has received an Silver ERS 2019 award from the Ministry of Defence for our work supporting the Armed Forces, in alignment with the Armed Force Covenant. It is given to organisations that demonstrate support for Defence, employing at least one Reservist, actively communicating and upholding a positive stance to their employees via established HR policies and procedures. Silver Award holders support Reservists by showing flexibility to plan for and allow them to fulfil their annual training and mobilisation commitments.

Cross Sector Partnership of the Year

In the twentieth anniversary of the Charity Times Awards, Bradford District Care NHS Foundation, The Cellar Trust and Bradford Metropolitan Council have been awarded the ‘Cross Sector Partnership of the Year’. The awards celebrate best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector

Nursing Times Workforce Award

Many congratulations to the iCare team for helping the Trust clinch the ‘Best Employer for Staff Recognition’ award. iCare help staff make their innovative ideas a reality, such as the Resilience Passport (RP) a child-friendly and fun mental health promotion and training programme, and the Patient Portal App for use in the Early Intervention in Psychosis service.

CCG Healthcare Heroes

Congratulations to Helen Muff, Case Manager, at Leyland’s Medical Centre, Bradford for winning the ‘Above and Beyond’ category in the CCG Healthcare Heroes awards. Helen received this award for her ‘relentless attitude to deliver the best possible care that is truly patient centred and holistic’.

West Yorkshire Police volunteer team of the year

West Yorkshire Police logoOur Acute and Community Mental Health services won West Yorkshire Police’s ‘volunteer team of the year’ award in February for the work they do to run a weekly mental health police car in the Bradford District. 

ROSPA Gold Award for Health and Safety


Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust has been recognised for the eleventh year running for its occupational health and safety by the Royal Society of the Prevention of Accident (RoSPA). For the fifth consecutive year, the Care Trust achieved the gold award at the internationally recognised scheme.

Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards

The child-friendly Resilience Passport, which helps to promote emotional wellbeing for children has won a national award at the Positive Practice National Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Awards in the Learning and Education category.  The Resilience Passport is a fun mental health promotion and training programme, designed for the primary school Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education curriculum. The programme enables children to explore how they feel, using a wellbeing battery concept, and think about what support they need to feel ‘fully charged’.  Children record feelings, thoughts and emotions, in their own colourful ‘passport’ which they work through in classwork.

National Service User Award 2019

Congratulations to the team that wrote and performed the ‘We are on a journey’ play for Lynfest. The play was about challenging stigma around mental health and has been awarded a National Service User Award

Positive Practice National Children and Young People’s Mental Health Awards

Congratulations to Susan Francis, CAMHS trainer/facilitator,  winner in the Learning and Education category at the Positive Practice National Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Awards for the child friendly resilience passport – helping to promote emotional wellbeing for children.

National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers

Congratulations to Tom Rhodes, Fire Officer, who has been awarded a national award for improving, promoting and championing fire safety within the Trust and also informed and educated other NHS Fire Officers of the Trust’s work to improve healthcare fire safety nationally.

NHS Sustainability Award

The Trusts Podiatry/Biomechanics team was awarded an NHS Sustainability Award for their work around their Orthochoice project.
