library Welcome to the Bradford District Care Trust library and health promotion resources. We offer a wide range of services to all NHS Staff and practising Health Promoters in the Bradford area.

The Library & Health Promotion Resources is based at Lynfield Mount Hospital in Bradford. We provide information and resources to all members of staff within Bradford District Care Trust and other NHS Trusts in Bradford, as well as to practising health promoters across the Bradford Metropolitan District.

The library offers a range of services & resources including:

  • Approximately 7000 books with particular emphasis on psychiatry and psychology, community care/nursing and health promotion.
  • Around 50 current print journal titles in mental health, nursing, health promotion and related fields.
  • A large number of health promotion materials (link through to health promotion pages) including leaflets, posters, videos, teaching packs, display boards, anatomical models and information files.
  • Access to the knowledge base of health care literature i.e. through databases such as Medline, Cinahl, Cochrane, Psychinfo.
  • Access to over 300 electronic textbooks and over 1000 electronic journals.
  • Latest official NHS and Government Reports.
  • 8 PCs with access to the Internet and Intranet.
  • Printing, scanning and photocopying facilities.
  • Somewhere to study.
  • Literature searching by library staff.
  • An enquiry service.
  • Training on the use of resources, Internet or database searching to both groups and individuals.

Joining the Library

Staff and students from the following organisations are eligible to join the library:

  • Bradford District Care Trust
  • Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Airedale NHS Trust
  • Bradford & Airedale PCTs
  • Bradford Council
  • Practising Health Promoters across the Bradford and Keighley area, regardless of organisation, e.g. teachers, school nurses, voluntary or community group leaders

To join the library, just come along with your staff badge and/or a current form of ID and we will do the rest.

Library Opening Hours

Mon to Thurs 8.30am to 5pm, Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm

BDCT staff can also access the library using a swipe card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Library Networks

There are four NHS libraries (including our library at Lynfield Mount) which serve all NHS staff in the Bradford & Airedale area.  By joining our library you will automatically become a member of all the libraries! The other three libraries are at:
