Databases

 

The library provides access to a range of databases to find information and journal articles on a specific topic.  Most of the databases require an Athens username and password for authentication.  To obtain an Athens username please contact the library or self-register (available to NHS staff and students only).

To access any of the databases please follow the links below.  All of the databases provide citations for journal articles and some articles are available in full-text.  To check the library journal collections please access the A-Z journals listing.

Cochrane Library is an electronic publication designed to supply high quality evidence.

Produced by the Dept of Health, this covers administration and medical toxicology.

EMBASE - http://nhs.dialog.com
Covers all aspects of biomedicine and drugs/pharmacology – emphasis on European journals.

ERIC provides free access to more than 1.2 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related material.

Vast source of medical and health care information, covers all relevant fields.

PubMed is a service that includes over 16 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s.

"Turning Research into Practice" is freely available and specialises in evidence-based practice.
