We are committed to continually improving what we do and explore innovative ways of working to ensure our care is delivered in the most efficient way, without compromising quality.
We work to achieve this through:
- Productive Ward Programme
- Lean Working
- Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention (QIPP)
- Development of our Innovation Sub Group
- Quality and Safety Walkabouts
- You’re a Star Awards
Productive Ward Programme
We have signed up to an innovative national programme, “The Productive Ward: Releasing Time to Care” programme, to release time staff spend on direct care by enabling staff to redesign and streamline the way they manage and work.
The programme is being rolled out across all our wards to review how the delivery of care is organised to improve ward processes, the environment, staff well-being and overall service user experience. Click here to view a case study about the Productive Ward Programme.
Lean Working
Lean is about getting the right things to the right place, at the right time, in the right quantities, whilst reducing waste.
We work closely with the Lean Healthcare Academy to develop an organisational approach to the spread of Lean working across all our services and departments.
A number of our services including the Child and Adolescent Mental Health care group, Substance Misuse Services and community mental health teams have already carried out Lean projects to improve the way in which they deliver services.

QIPP
We work with internal and external colleagues to deliver the national Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention (QIPP) agenda.
QIPP works at a national, regional and local level to support us and other NHS organisations improve our quality of care, and make efficiency savings that can be reinvested into our services.
Development of our Innovation Sub Group
An innovation sub group has been developed to drive some of the changes we need to make to allow innovative ideas to flourish across our organisation.
Staff and service users from a range of services, HR, governance and voluntary sector organisations come together in the group to define clear processes with which innovations can develop.

Quality and Safety Walkabouts
Our Quality and Safety Walkabouts are a new initiative to make sure we continue to deliver real improvements in safety for service users.
The walkabouts, conducted by members of our Trust Board, have visited a number of wards and service areas to engage with staff and make sure safety remains top of the agenda.
Where staff have ideas on how the safety of their service can be improved, the Board considers suggestions and looks to make improvements for the benefit of all involved. Click here to view a case study about our Quality and Safety Walkabouts.
