Allied Health Professions (AHPs) work across all health care settings in the district. They support people of all ages in their recovery from illness or in coping with disability. They enable children and adults to make the most of their skills and abilities, and to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles.
AHPs work within our services in the following ways:
- Art therapists – work with people to help them gain insight and enable change and growth through the use of art materials
- Dieticians – provide practical information about nutrition and food. They work with people to promote nutritional wellbeing, prevent food-related problems and treat disease
- Occupational Therapists – help people take part as independently as possible in a range of everyday activities (occupations) which enhance their health and wellbeing
- Physiotherapists – promote wellbeing through physical activity and lifestyle change
- Speech & Language Therapists – work with people who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties
