Make a difference to your community: become a Community Health Champion!

Seniors Show the Way supports people aged 50+ to become Community Health Champions. Community Health Champions bring many benefits to their communities by spreading positive health messages in an informal way. This can be very valuable and many of our Community Health Champions have made a lasting impact on people’s lives in this way.
The first step to getting involved is to attend a workshop session centred around ‘Healthy Eating’, ‘Mental Wellbeing’ or ‘Physical Activity’. So far we’ve had over 1,000 Community Health Champions doing just this, but we would like to engage with even more people. So, if you would like to get involved, please get in touch on 01274 321911.
As well as the workshops we also run ‘Walk Leader Training’, ‘Relaxation Training’ and link people up with other opportunities. For example several of our Community Health Champions have completed a ‘leading gentle movement to music’ course. We provide opportunities for people to meet up with each other by way of our six-weekly network meetings, held in Bradford Centre, Keighley and rural Bradford. We also run other events periodically.

Here are some examples of what our Community Health Champions are doing to pass on health messages:
- pass on a healthy recipe to a friend
- become a swimming buddy at their local pool
- lead a ‘cook and eat’ session
- lead a walk or a relaxation session
- give a presentation at a health awareness event
