Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs) or Equality Analysis’ sound complicated but they are really just a way to help us think about how a policy, strategy, project, or service may affect the different groups of people that we care for.
The impact a policy may have on someone could vary and we must consider this in relation to:
- Age
- Disability
- Ethnicity
- Sex
- Religion and Belief
- Sexual Orientation
- Gender – Reassignment (Trans)
- Pregnancy and Maternity
Equality Analysis’ helps us to make sure anyone involved with our services has a positive experience. They help us challenge discrimination, promote equal treatment and make sure services are easy to access for everybody. They also help us to meet our legal obligations under equality law.
