About Equality and Diversity
Core Business
The Trust is resolute in its commitment to safeguarding the rights and responsibilities of service user’s, carers and staff and accept that unfairness persists for some minority groups and wider diverse communities. The Trust is working hard to eliminate this through taking an equality & human rights based approach through business planning, decision making and when carrying out its functions.
The role of the Equality & Diversity Team is to provide leadership and direction to Trust Board on high level compliance of equality duties and observance of working above the minimal legislative requirements.
Our Single Equality Scheme aims to drive measurable improvements in a manner which surpasses the benchmarks set by equality legislation and is fundamental in embedding mechanisms to track and motivate the change that is necessary to deliver quality care.
During the first year of implementing our Single Equality Scheme and action plan the Trust will be involving key stakeholders both locally and nationally through consultation and engagement to ensure we are getting it right.
The Trust Equality, Diversity & Human Rights Annual Report 08–09 provides an overview of the work undertaken by the Trust to ensure peoples rights are been addressed
